First stop. Grand Canal Museum
At 7 a.m., everyone gathered downstairs at the company and set off. After a little over an hour’s drive, we arrived at our first stop on this trip: the China Grand Canal Museum, which is the country’s first museum integrating cultural relic preservation, scientific research, exhibition, and public education.
The modern, comprehensive canal-themed museum is hailed as the “encyclopedia” of China’s Grand Canal.
Here, everyone experienced a cultural journey spanning millennia brought to life by cutting-edge light and shadow technology, savoring the charm of the canal and gaining insight into intangible cultural heritage.
Second stop. Ping Shan Banquet
At our second stop, we arrived at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Base for Huaiyang Cuisine—the Pingshan Banquet. “The balustrades of Pingshan lean against the clear sky; amidst the mountains, their hues seem to fade in and out.” Here, everyone savored a succession of exquisite Huaiyang dishes—from the authentic Yangzhou Old Goose to the visually stunning and delicious Fish Head Buddha Jumps Over the Wall—each dish leaving an unforgettable impression.
As the meal became more abundant, the atmosphere gradually livened up. Colleagues feasted heartily, exchanged stories with one another, and laughter filled the air—creating a truly harmonious and relaxed ambiance. Through this casual and joyful gathering, everyone got to know each other better, deepened their bonds, and fostered stronger teamwork.
Third stop. Slender West Lake
“Flowers bloom in March, and Yangzhou comes alive.” In springtime, a visit to Yangzhou is incomplete without exploring the Slender West Lake. The Slender West Lake is a narrow, elongated river along which you can stroll, soaking in the breathtaking natural scenery. As you wander through pavilions, terraces, and elegant buildings, you’ll have the chance to admire the poetic masterpieces and exquisite calligraphy left behind by literati and artists of past dynasties. Take a leisurely boat ride on the lake and listen to the boatwomen sing the charming folk songs of Yangzhou.
This spring outing allowed us to put aside the hustle and bustle of work.
